Eid train tickets for 14 March go on sale today

Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh Railway has begun selling advance train tickets for 14 March as part of its arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr travel.The authorities on Wednesday launched the second day of advance ticket sales to ensure smooth journeys for homebound passengers during Ramadan.As in previous years, the railway has introduced a special system to sell intercity train tickets seven days in advance.Bangladesh Railway started online sales at 8am for all intercity trains operating in the western region. It will open online sales for eastern region intercity trains at 2pm.

Railway officials took the decision at a preparatory meeting on special Eid services held recently at Rail Bhaban in the capital.According to the schedule, the railway sold tickets for 13 March on 3 March. It will sell tickets for 15 March on 5 March, 16 March on 6 March, 17 March on 7 March, 18 March on 8 March and 19 March on 9 March.

The authorities will announce ticket sales for 20 March, 21 March and 22 March depending on the sighting of the moon.

Passengers may purchase up to four seats in a single transaction for Eid travel, but they can complete only one purchase per person. The railway will not refund any Eid advance tickets.

On passengers’ request, the railway will also allow the sale of 25% standing tickets in non-AC coaches from originating stations before departure.Source: daily Sun
