Ex-BPDB chief engineer jailed for six years in graft case
  Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Sunday convicted and sentenced former chief engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Md Shahidul Alam to six years of rigorous imprisonment in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission. Judge Md Zakaria Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 delivered the verdict and also fined the accused Tk40,000, in default of which he would need to serve six more months in jail. The court also ordered the confiscation of Shahidul's illegally acquired assets in favour of the state and directed that any previous period he spent in jail related to this case be deducted from the sentence. On 25 October 2017, the ACC filed a case against Shahidul for concealing information about the wealth of Tk24.42 lakh.
