Ex-IGP Abdullah Al Mamun jailed for five years
Bangla Press Desk: The International Crimes Tribunal has sentenced former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun to five years’ imprisonment.
He confessed to his role and agreed to testify as a state witness in a case concerning crimes against humanity committed during the July–August massacres.
The verdict was delivered on Monday (17 November), with Justice Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury of the three-member judicial panel beginning to read the first part of the 453-page judgment at 12:40pm.
The panel was led by Tribunal-1 Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumdar, with Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmud as the third member.
Following two hours and ten minutes of summary pronouncement, the tribunal announced the sentencing at 2:50pm.
