Ex-MP Bodi Secures Bail from High Court
Bangla Press Desk: The High Court on Thursday granted bail to former Cox’s Bazar member of parliament Abdur Rahman Bodi in a case filed against him.
A High Court bench passed the order, allowing his release in the specific case under consideration.Bodi was arrested on 20 August 2024 from the Panchlaish area of Chattogram city.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said at the time that he had been detained in connection with an attempted murder case filed in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.Bodi was elected as a member of parliament from the Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf) constituency in the ninth and tenth parliamentary elections as a candidate of the Bangladesh Awami League.In August 2024, a case was filed against 33 individuals, with Bodi named as the prime accused, over allegations of vandalism, looting, and attacks on business establishments in Teknaf.
Teknaf Upazila Parishad Chairman Jafar Ahmed was also named as an accused in the same case.
The complaint was lodged at Teknaf Police Station by Mohammad Abdullah, finance secretary of the Cox’s Bazar district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
Around 70 unnamed individuals were also made accused in the case.Source: daily Sun
