Expat welfare control room to operate through Eid holiday amid Mideast crisis
Bangla Press Desk: The government’s specialised control room for supporting expatriates will remain open 24/7 during the seven-day Eid holiday due to the heightened security situation created by the Iran war.
At least 20 officers, and 24 office staff members will continue to provide services in three shifts at the office set up on the seventh floor of Probashi Kalyan Bhaban, Iskaton, Dhaka, said a press release issued Wednesday.The toll-free hotline numbers for the office are: 16135 for domestic clients and +8809610102030 for overseas clients.
Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan, director general of the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board, will ensure the overall management at the control room, while Md Hedayatul Islam Mondol, deputy secretary at employment-1 wing of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, will serve as the focal point officer.
