Fighter pilots need dedicated base for training: Retired Air Vice Marshal
Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh needs a dedicated air base for pilots to train on fighter jets and conduct exercises, Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hussain (Retd) has said. On Monday night, speaking with the Daily Sun, the retired Air Force officer said the country has no air base for flying fighter jets. “The Air Force needs such a base, and it needs this base near the capital,” he said, floating the Arial Beel wetland in Munshiganj as a potential spot. Commenting over the fighter jet crash incident in Uttara, he said that crashes occur mainly for two reasons—technical fault and fault of pilot.
He said that it is difficult to say about the reason before crash before completing a probe. “But, I think the pilot [in Uttara’s incident] tried his best to avoid the crash and the populated site of crash.” He recalled that five out of 12 of his coursemates died during fighter jet trainings.
