Fire at Shahjalal Airport: Dhaka-bound flight lands in Sylhet
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka-bound flight from Saudi Arabia was diverted to Sylhet due to a massive fire at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
According to airport sources, the flight from Riyadh landed at the Osmani International Airport in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon (October 18).
The fire broke out around 2:30 pm in the cargo section of Shahjalal Airport. The Fire Service control room reported that 28 units are currently working to bring the blaze under control.
Md. Masudul Hasan Masud, spokesperson for the Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said the fire occurred in a part adjacent to the cargo section. Members of the army and air force have joined the Fire Service in the firefighting efforts.
He also mentioned that the affected section stores imported goods.
