Former Begum Rokeya University VC Kalimullah sent to jail
  Bangla Press Desk:‎ A Dhaka court on Thursday ordered former vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, to be sent to jail over graft allegations related to a special development project at the university. ‎Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court passed the order after a hearing. ‎During the hearing, Anti-Corruption Commission Prosecutor Delwar Jahan Rumi pleaded for Kalimullah's detention. ‎ On the other hand, Advocate Mohsin Reza and others argued for his bail. They also requested that he be given division facilities in jail in case of bail plea rejection.
‎After hearing both sides, the court passed the order to send him to jail. ‎In addition, the same court also imposed a travel ban on five individuals, including two former vice-chancellors of Begum Rokeya University — Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah and AKM Nur-un-Nabi — over the same charges.‎ ‎The others facing the travel ban are –  Md Jahangir Alam, former executive engineer of the university and member secretary of the tender evaluation committee, contractor Md A Salam Bacchu, and MM Habibur Rahman. ‎On Thursday, Kalimullah was arrested from his Mohammadpur residence around 12:30pm in connection with the graft case.
