Gold Price Falls by Tk7,640 per Bhori, Effective Today

Bangla Press Desk:  Gold prices have fallen in the domestic market, with the price reduced by Tk7,640 per bhori, bringing the new rate of 22-carat gold to Tk254,450 per bhori.

The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) announced the revised prices in a press release issued on Friday (6 February). According to BAJUS, the new prices came into effect from 10:00am today.

The association said the price adjustment was made following a decline in the local market price of acid gold (pure gold).

Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold is priced at Tk242,903 per bhori, while 18-carat gold now costs Tk208,202 per bhori. Gold produced under the traditional method has been set at Tk170,411 per bhori.

BAJUS also noted that a 5 percent government-mandated VAT and a minimum 6 percent making charge must be added to the selling price of gold. However, making charges may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.

Meanwhile, silver prices have also been reduced. The price of 22-carat silver has been fixed at Tk6,357 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk6,065 per bhori, and 18-carat silver at Tk5,190 per bhori. Silver made using the traditional method will now sell at Tk3,907 per bhori. Source: daily Sun
