Government's plan is to increase prices of everything in phases: Manju

BanglaPress Desk: Mujibur Rahman Manju, Chairman of the Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), has remarked that the government has failed to address the problems faced by the public since coming to power. He stated that, in effect, the government’s only "plan" now consists of repeatedly raising prices and subjecting the people to hardship.
He made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a discussion meeting held on Tuesday (November 3) at the AB Party’s central office in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, to mark the first founding anniversary of the AB Volunteer Wing (AB Swechasebak Party).
Mujibur Rahman Manju noted that the prices of electricity and gas are being raised repeatedly. The costs of essential commodities have surged, and while the salaries of government employees have increased, the overall cost of living has risen as well. Consequently, frustration and resentment among the general public are growing day by day.
He pointed out that the country has been governed by conventional, status-quo politics for the past 54 years. The establishment of numerous political parties, universities, educational institutions, mosques, and madrasas was intended to guide the state in the right direction and improve the quality of life for its citizens. He questioned why, despite all these efforts, the state still cannot be steered onto the right path.
Highlighting that a lack of mutual acquaintance and understanding among political parties has led to distrust and distance—even over trivial matters—Manju emphasized that people only engage with politics when they see their own interests and rights reflected within it. Therefore, the Volunteer Wing must play a pivotal role in fostering national unity. It must present a vision and the possibilities of what can be achieved if the nation is united.
Manju further remarked that the Awami League has deceived the public by offering various empty assurances. Similarly, the BNP had promised employment for ten million people—a pledge it has failed to fulfill. Politics should not be about a flurry of hollow promises; rather, it should focus on effective initiatives to solve the real-world problems faced by the people.
The meeting was moderated by Tofazzal Hossain Ramiz, Member Secretary of the AB Volunteer Wing, and presided over by its Convener, Kefayet Hossain Tanvir. Other speakers included AB Party Joint General Secretary ABM Khalid Hasan and Md. Altaf Hossain, Shahadatullah Tutul, Secretary for Expatriate Welfare Golam Rabbani Raja, Member Secretary of AB Youth Party Hadiuzzaman Khokon, Secretary for Employment Shafiul Bashar, Assistant Office Secretary Abdul Halim Nannu, Joint Convener of the Volunteer Party Abdul Mannan, Joint Member Secretaries Rashida Akter Mitu and Mizanur Rahman Mithu, and Central Committee member Khorshed Alam Palash.
Also present on the occasion were Abdul Halim Khokon (Convener, AB Party Dhaka Metropolitan South), Selim Khan (Convener, AB Party Dhaka Metropolitan North), Raziya Sultana (Secretary for Relief and Rehabilitation), Mohsinul Haque Chowdhury (Assistant Office Secretary), Shahinur Akter Shila (Assistant Secretary for Women’s Development), Sumaiya Sharmin Farhana (Assistant Secretary for Entrepreneurship and Employment), Masud Jamaddar (Member Secretary, Gazipur Metropolitan), Mokarrebur Rahman Nasim (Convener, Natore District), Arifur Rahman Mizan (Joint Convener, Volunteer Party), Dr. Shah Mahmudul Bari Rakib, and Central Committee members Monir Hossain and Jaber Hossain Suman.
