The hunger strike was formally announced by Muhammad Monzur Morshed Bhuiyan, spokesperson of the JnU Teachers’ Association and a professor of the Finance department. Both current and former students also joined the protests programme to force the government to execute the demand. Earlier, Mahatab Limon, general secretary of the JuN journalists’ association, made the initial announcement on behalf of the platform ‘Jobi Oikkya’ during a rally.
On Thursday, Prof Rois Uddin, general secretary of the JnU Teachers’ Association, also announced the programme on behalf of ‘Jobi Oikkya’ following consultations with leaders of all political and social organisations on the campus.
