Govt committed to stronger ties with all countries: PM Tarique
Bangla Press Desk : Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government is committed to further strengthening relations with countries around the world based on mutual respect, cooperation, and trust.
He also highlighted that Bangladesh always attaches great importance to both bilateral and multilateral relations.He made the remarks at an iftar reception on Friday at the state guesthouse Jamuna in Dhaka, held in honour of diplomats from different countries posted in the capital.
In his speech before the Iftar, the Prime Minister said the occasion was not merely ceremonial; it reminded everyone of the importance of mutual respect, empathy, and unity among people of different nations, religions, and cultures.
He emphasised that these values form the foundation of a peaceful and tolerant society.
The Prime Minister also mentioned his government’s firm stance on safeguarding independence, ensuring human rights, and combating corruption.
He stated that the government is working to maintain law and order, empower and encourage women, and build a strong and inclusive economy by supporting new entrepreneurs.
He expressed hope that through mutual cooperation and understanding, Bangladesh and the international community would move forward together on the path of peace, development, and prosperity.
In his welcome remarks, Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman said Bangladesh places importance on equality, mutual interests, and friendly relations in its bilateral engagements.
During the iftar, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with the invited guests.
The prime minister was joined by his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman.
Among those sharing iftar with him were Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma, Nepal’s Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari, Bhutan’s Ambassador Dasho Karma Hamu Darji, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Imran Haider, and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador Dharmapala Wirakakodi.
Other diplomats attending included representatives from the United States, United Kingdom, China, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Palestine, Russia, Thailand, Qatar, Oman, and other countries.Source: daily Sun
