Govt extends press officer Tarique Choyon's tenure in Kolkata mission
Bangla Press Desk: The government has extended the tenure of Md Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan, also known as Tarique Choyon, first secretary (Press) at the Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, for another year.
A notification signed by Ibrahim Bhuiya, additional secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, on 12 November confirmed his tenure extension, citing Choyon’s success in promoting Bangladesh’s positive image in India since taking office in November last year.
"Choyon has strengthened professional relations with journalists and media outlets, enhancing the mission’s activities," the notification read.
The Ministry of Public Administration also issued a gazette notification in this regard on Tuesday (25 November).
Tarqiue, a former student of Dhaka Universuty is a renowned Bangladeshi journalist with extensive experience in diplomatic, political, and administrative reporting.
Since joining in Kolkata, he has actively promoted Bangladesh’s image across West Bengal and other Indian states, highlighting religious harmony and secular values.
Recently, he received the 'International Excellence Award 2025' in Kuala Lumpur on 14 October at Lincoln University College.
