Bangla Press Desk: The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has decided to re-verify the identities of 52 individuals included as martyrs of the July Uprising who, according to a recent media report, did not die during the movement.
The ministry on Tuesday (16 Sept) issued letters to all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners, instructing them to check whether those listed as July fighters or martyrs were indeed injured or killed while participating in the anti-discrimination movement.
Officials have been asked to submit their findings within three working days.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs oversees the official gazette of July martyrs and fighters, as well as the distribution of allowances and related benefits.
