Grand rally in Dhaka marks Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi
Bangla Press Desk: Dhaka witnessed a grand religious procession on Saturday (6 September) as thousands of Sufi devotees gathered to celebrate the holy occasion of 12th Rabiul Awal and Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). The Jashne Julus, organised annually, was led by Anjumane Rahmaniya Mainiya Maizbhandaria President and Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) Chairman, Shah Sufi Dr Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari. The colourful procession began from the western side of Suhrawardy Udyan, paraded through Doel Chattar, Shikkha Bhaban and Kadam Fountain crossing and returned to the venue through the western gate. The rally concluded with a Shanti Mahasammelan (Grand Peace Gathering). Devotees from across the country began arriving in the capital early morning. This year’s observance carried special significance, marking the 1500th anniversary of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
At the front of the march, banners read “Ya Nabi Salam Alaika” and “Ya Rasool Salam Alaika.” Participants carried flags with the Kalema, placards, and festoons, while a giant national flag added to the vibrant display. The chants of Narae Takbir and Narae Risalat echoed along the streets. Devotees wore white T-shirts and caps, while women’s active participation in both the procession and the peace gathering drew attention. In his address before the rally, Dr Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari said: “The Holy Prophet (PBUH) is a special mercy from Allah for humanity. By following his ideals, we can build a peaceful, just and welfare-oriented society. Rasulullah (PBUH) taught us harmony, brotherhood and humanity, yet today the world is plagued by wars, conflicts and terrorism. The only path to lasting peace is to implement the teachings of our beloved Prophet (PBUH).” He urged Muslims to embrace the sacred message of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) in their personal, family and national lives, saying: “Only then will peace, brotherhood and humanity spread across society.” This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
