Bangla Press Desk: Palestinian armed group Hamas has vehemently turned down rumours that it backed US-Israeli demands for relinquishing weapons, saying the fighters would instead continue their struggle for setting up a sovereign Palestinian state.
That right to arms “cannot be relinquished until our full national rights are restored, foremost among them the establishment of a fully sovereign, independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital”, it said in a statement on Saturday.
The group has a “national and legal” right to confront the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory, it said.
Recently, United States President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, reported said during a meeting with relatives of Israeli captives held in Gaza that Hamas expressed a willingness to disarm during Gaza ceasefire negotiations with Israel.
