HC to seize all polling docs of 3 constituencies following Jamaat’s complaint

Bangla Press Desk: Election Tribunal of the High Court (HC) has instructed the court to take into custody all the ballot papers, result sheets and relevant documents of three constituencies in response to allegations of rigging filed by the Jamaat-e-Islami.

The three parliamentary seats are: Dhaka-6, Dhaka-7 and Gaibandha-4, where BNP candidates have won.

The Tribunal also ordered for seizing the documents of Sherpur-1 constituency, where a Jamaat candidate has won, in response to a complaint from BNP.

Justice Md Zakir Hossain issued the orders in this regard. Earlier, the defeated candidates in the constituencies filed petitions calling for a vote recount.

On 19 February, the Supreme Court formed the Election Tribunal to address election-related complaints.Source: daily Sun
