Hefazat Ameer urges unity among Islamic parties excluding Jamaat
Bangla Press Desk: Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Ameer Allama Shah Muhibullah Babunagri has called for unity among all Islamic parties except Jamaat-e-Islami.
“Jamaat’s Islam is not the same as ours — we follow the Islam of Madinah, while they follow the Islam of Maududi,” he said.
Hefazat chief made the remarks on Saturday while addressing a discussion and national Ulama-Mashayekh conference on “The history, heritage, and contribution of Qawmi madrasas” organised by Dawatul Ihsan at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka.
Babunagari urged Islamic leaders not to take any decision that could harm Islam or its mainstream values, saying the nation was going through a difficult time with conspiracies against Islam, the Muslim Ummah, and the country’s sovereignty and religious principles.
Criticising Jamaat founder Syed Abul A’la Maududi, he said Maududi’s ideology was “more dangerous than Qadianism,” adding that his ideas had caused division among Muslims by questioning the honour of the Prophet’s companions.
The event, chaired by Allama Abdul Awal, president of Dawatul Ihsan, was also attended by Pakistani scholar Allama Ilyas Gumman, Hefazat Secretary General Maulana Sajidur Rahman, and Maulana Manzurul Islam Afendi, Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh.
