Hezbollah strongly opposes Lebanese government's talks with US
Bangla Press Desk: The Lebanese government's ongoing direct talks with the United States have been strongly opposed by the country's armed and political group Hezbollah. The group claims that such talks will undermine Lebanon's sovereignty and indirectly protect Israel's interests.
In an official statement, Hezbollah said that the Lebanese delegation in Washington is being pressured to accept some conditions originally created by the United States. These conditions will "forfeit" Lebanon's national sovereignty and put Beirut in a position that favors the policies of those who negotiate with Israel.
According to Hezbollah, the basic premise of these talks is wrong and will push the country towards a kind of "surrender" instead of protecting Lebanon's national interests. The statement also said that the government's participation will become a major obstacle in confronting the enemy's aggressive plans. At the same time, it will devalue the efforts of resistance fighters on the ground and the great sacrifices made by ordinary people.
The group stressed that the government could have used the sacrifices and achievements of the resistance fighters as a tool of pressure to ensure the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory. Instead, this decision to confront the United States poses a grave risk to the stability and independence of the country. Hezbollah believes that the government's move is, in a way, a manifestation of loyalty to the implementation of US and Israeli policy objectives. Source: Al-Jazeera.
