Bangla Press Desk: The Cabinet Division has formed a “high-level” committee to submit a probe report within 10 days on the large-scale looting of white stones from Sylhet’s Sada Pathor area over the past year.
The new committee was formed on Wednesday, the same day a district-level committee submitted its probe report to Sylhet deputy commissioner’s office despite criticisms against committee members.
The “high-level” committee has to conduct “on-site investigation” and provide necessary recommendations to alleviate the crisis, as per an order signed by Cabinet Division Deputy Secretary Md Sahedul Islam.
The looting of 80% white stones from the Sada Pathor area severely damaged the iconic tourist spot’s appeal, the order read.
