House help confesses to double murder at Mohammadpur
Bangla Press Desk: Domestic worker Ayesha on Wednesday confessed to the killing of a woman and her daughter in the capital’s Mohammadpur area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam recorded her statement and ordered her to be sent to jail.
Mohammadpur Police Station Sub-Inspector Shahidul Osman Masum, also the investigating officer of the case, produced Ayesha before the court and applied for recording her statement.
On Monday, Ayesha’s husband, Rabbi Shikder, also confessed to his part in the killing.
On 10 December, the couple was arrested in Charkoya village under Nalchity upazila of Jhalakathi.
The following day, Ayesha was remanded for six days, and Rabbi for three days.
According to police, Laila Afroz, 48, wife of schoolteacher AZ Azizul Islam, and their daughter Nafisa Nawal Binte Aziz, 15, were murdered on 8 December inside their apartment on Shahjahan Road, allegedly by a part-time house help who had identified herself to the family as Ayesha.
She allegedly used a knife or another sharp weapon to inflict fatal injuries on the woman and her daughter, and then fled with a mobile phone, a laptop, gold ornaments, and cash.
Azizul filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station following the killings.
