'Ideological revolution for political change' stressed at discussion in Paris
Bangla Press Desk:  "Bangladesh cannot overcome its ongoing political crisis without an ideology-based revolution," remarked journalist Saeed Tarek at a discussion held in Paris on Saturday The event, titled “July Uprising 2024: Achievements and Expectations,” was presided over by MA Mannan Azad, editor of Euro Vision News France, and moderated by Mohammad Mahbub Hossain, France correspondent of the Daily Naya Diganta and coordinator of the France Bangladesh Journalists Association (FBJA). In his speech, Saeed Tarek said, “The uprising engineered by the people of the country in July 2024 is just the beginning of a revolution. To build Bangladesh as a dignified and sovereign nation, an ideological revolution is essential.” Participants in the discussion included Advocate Kazi Abdullah Al Mamun, leader of the International Farakka Dam Protest Movement; Mohammad Arif Ullah, journalist at France 24; poet Abdul Quddus Hasan, and social activists Advocate Monowar Hossain and Khaled Mahmud. Also present were journalists Tanvir Ahmed Toha, Jaforul Hasan, Shah Suhel, Salman, Shahidul Islam, Anukt Kamrul, Wadud Tanvir, Yasir Khokon, Mamun Mahin, and Mohammad Arafat among others.
Speakers said that just like 1947, 1971, and 1975, the July 2024 uprising was a continuation of the nation's political awakening. They emphasised that under the leadership of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman, Bangladesh had begun to emerge as a self-reliant nation. According to them, the transformation witnessed in July 2024 is essentially an extension of that same historical continuity.  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
