Bangla Press Desk: Imranur Rahman has reclaimed his crown as Bangladesh’s fastest man, winning the 100m sprint at the National Summer Athletics Competition today. This marks the fifth time the UK-based sprinter has clinched the title in the country’s premier sprint event.
The England-based athlete had missed the national championships held in February, where Ismail had been crowned Bangladesh’s fastest man. At today’s Summer Athletics meet, Imranur returned not only to compete but also to reclaim the prestigious title. Representing the Bangladesh Navy, he crossed the finish line in 10.64 seconds.
Expressing his joy, Imranur said, “I thank the Navy. I was out for 6–7 months due to injury. I also had an operation. After going through a difficult time, it feels great to be first again.”
While his timing of 10.64 seconds is enough to secure the national title, it falls short of international standards. On this, Imranur added, “It’s okay for now, because I was out of training for 2–3 months. I want to perform well in the upcoming South Asian Games.”
