Inqilab Moncho demands exposure of network behind Osman Hadi murder

Bangla Press Desk:   Inqilab Moncho has demanded that the authorities uncover the planners and financiers behind the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, alleging that although the main shooter has been arrested, those who masterminded the killing remain beyond the reach of the law.

The demand was made by Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber at an emergency press conference held at Shahbagh in the capital on Monday afternoon.Speaking at the press conference, Jaber said they had received information that the main accused in the Osman Hadi murder case, Faisal Karim Masud, had been arrested in India. He added that he had spoken to the investigating officer of the case, who confirmed the matter.

He described the arrest of the shooter after nearly 87 days as a significant development in the investigation. However, Jaber said the person who pulled the trigger was not the only one responsible for the killing.

“The person who fired the shot is not the only killer. Those who planned, hired the shooter and orchestrated the entire operation behind the murder of Shaheed Osman Hadi have not yet been exposed,” he said.

He also alleged that an attempt had been made to cover up the incident during the initial investigation conducted by the Detective Branch (DB) of police. Currently, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the investigation and is continuing the process.

Jaber said he had also spoken with the CID investigation officer, who informed him that the main shooter had been arrested and that efforts were underway to bring him back to the country quickly and identify the others involved in the murder.

While thanking the relevant agencies for the progress made so far, he warned that the arrest should not become a subject of political bargaining.

“The process of bringing the killers of Shaheed Osman Hadi back to the country must not be delayed in any way. International legal procedures, including issuing a Red Notice, must be completed quickly so that they can be brought back and tried,” he said.

The Inqilab Moncho leader also reiterated the organisation’s demand for the involvement of the United Nations to ensure an impartial investigation into the killing.

He said they had learned that the interim government had previously sent a letter to the United Nations regarding the matter, and the current government should now inform the public about the progress of that process.

“Whether the United Nations has agreed to take part in this investigation, and what kind of cooperation the government will provide, should be made public. An investigation under the supervision of the United Nations has become essential to ensure impartiality,” he said.

At the press conference, Jaber also alleged that in recent times some political parties and their online activists had been spreading misleading campaigns and propaganda targeting those who were demanding justice over the Hadi murder.

“Some political forces are trying to divert the trial process of this murder using media and online platforms. Even before the investigation is completed, responsibility is being imposed on different parties, which may affect the trial process,” he said.

Addressing the government, he urged it to take effective measures to stop such propaganda.

“Otherwise, there is a risk that the government’s repeated promises to ensure justice will be undermined,” he added.Source: daily Sun
