Iran Says Its Forces Seized US Drone in Strait of Hormuz
Bangla Press Desk: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say they have seized a US submarine drone in the Strait of Hormuz, according to media reports.
"The IRGC naval forces captured one of the most modern and unmanned submarines of the US terrorist army at the Strait of Hormuz in a complex operational action at dawn today," the Guards said in a statement carried by state TV.
Iranian state media described the vessel as a modern US-made system that entered service in 2025.
The vehicle was reportedly designed for underwater surveillance, seabed mapping, mine detection and inspection of submarine cables and pipelines.
Iran had maintained a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz since the Middle East war began in late February. The waterway normally handled about a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas exports.
Iran said it planned to impose fees on vessels using the waterway to fund services such as environmental protection, a move strongly opposed by the United States.
