Jamaat ameer expresses concern over HSIA Fire

Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep concern over the devastating fire that broke out at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday night, Dr Rahman called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.

“I express my deep concern over the massive fire at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport,” he said, noting that the airport, as the country’s main international gateway, is not only a centre for passenger movement but also a symbol of Bangladesh’s image.

Referring to recent incidents, the Jamaat ameer said, “Within just a week, we have witnessed major fires in two locations — in Mirpur, Dhaka, and in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone. Now, the fire at the airport’s cargo complex raises serious questions about whether these are mere accidents or acts of sabotage. A fire at such a strategic installation clearly points to administrative mismanagement, negligence, and security lapses.”

Dr Rahman urged authorities to ensure a neutral and expeditious investigation into any possible negligence, mismanagement, or sabotage behind the blaze and to bring those responsible to justice with exemplary punishment.

He also called for enhanced fire safety and security measures at all major installations across the country to prevent such incidents in the future.

Expressing sympathy for affected passengers, importers, and business owners, the Jamaat leader also extended his gratitude to firefighters and members of various agencies who worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze.
