Jamaat Women’s Wing Protests Violence Against Women, Children
Bangla Press Desk: The women’s wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami formed a human chain in Dhaka on Saturday, demanding exemplary punishment for those responsible for recent violence and killings of women and children.
Leaders and activists gathered in front of the National Press Club at around 10:30am to protest what they described as brutal assaults and murders in different parts of the country following the election.
Speakers at the programme said attackers have subjected women and children to inhumane abuse and killed them in several incidents. They described women and children as symbols of a nation’s dignity and honour.
They condemned what they called the moral decline reflected in the attacks and expressed shame as citizens over the incidents. The speakers urged authorities to ensure swift trials and exemplary punishment for those involved in the crimes. Source: daily Sun
