JnU student murder: Two identified from CCTV footage
Bangla Press Desk: Police have primarily identified two suspects involved in the killing of Jagannath University (JnU) student Jubayed Ahmed in Old Dhaka’s Armanitola area.
Confirming the development around 8:30pm, Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner Mallik Ahsan Uddin Sami said, “We have initially identified two individuals. Several police teams are now working in the field to arrest them.”
Regarding the motive, he said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that he was stabbed to death. Everyone in the building is being interrogated. We expect to uncover the full details of the incident soon.”
CCTV footage analysis shows two young men wearing black T-shirts and carrying black backpacks running towards Bangshal Road from Moktha area on Nurbox Road at 4:39pm. Police suspect they might be linked to the murder.
Earlier, on Sunday (19 October) around 4:30pm, Jubayed was stabbed near a building on Nurbox Road in Bangshal while going there for tuition. Attempting to climb the stairs after being injured, he collapsed on the third floor and died on the spot.
Jubayed Ahmed was a postgraduate student at Jagannath University’s Statistics Department. His death has cast a shadow of grief and anger across the campus. This article was originally published on the Daily Sun.
