Kalihati BNP rebel candidate Halim expelled
Kalihati (Tangail) Correspondent : BNP has expelled Engineer Abdul Halim, advisor to Kalihati Upazila BNP in Tangail and vice-president of the Central Muktijoddha Dal. The decision has been taken against him for participating in the election as an independent candidate in defiance of the party's decision.
Engineer Abdul Halim is contesting as an independent candidate in the Tangail-4 Kalihati constituency. Central BNP executive committee member Lutfur Rahman Matin has received BNP's nomination for this constituency.
Engineer Abdul Halim was expelled in a notification signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday (January 26).
The notification mentioned that Engineer Abdul Halim has been expelled from all levels of BNP, including the primary member post, due to his involvement in activities that defiance of the party's decision. At the same time, the notification mentioned that he has been expelled from all levels of the party, including the post of vice-president of the Nationalist Freedom Fighters' Party Central Committee.
Expelled independent candidate Engineer Abdul Halim said, "I have heard that he has been expelled, but I have no opinion on the matter."
