Khaleda Zia to receive ‘Best Indomitable Woman in Advancing Democracy’ award

Bangla Press Desk : The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs will confer the 'Best Indomitable Woman in Advancing Democracy (Gonotantra er Ogrojatray Sreshtho Odommo Nari)' award on Begum Khaleda Zia.

It will be given to her under the Indomitable Women Award programme marking International Women's Day 2026.The award will be handed over at a function to be held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on 8 March as part of the International Women's Day celebrations.

Khaleda Zia is being honoured in recognition of her indomitable leadership in the restoration of democracy through uncompromising struggle and her outstanding contributions to upholding the democratic process in the country.

As in previous years, five women will also be honoured as 'Best Indomitable Women' (Sreshtho Odommo Nari) in five different categories this year.

Nurun Nahar Akter will receive the award in the economic success category, while Bobita Khatun will be honoured in the education and employment category.

Nurbanu Kabir will be awarded in the successful mother category.

Shamla Begum will receive the award for overcoming the trauma of violence and achieving success in life while Afroza Yasmin will be honoured for her remarkable contributions to social development.Source: daily Sun
