Khaleda’s treatment to continue at home for now
Bangla Press Desk: The medical treatment of BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia will continue at home for the time being, her medical board has confirmed.
They also stated that her overall condition remains largely unchanged as she continues to receive care under close medical supervision.
“The medical board, comprising both local and foreign specialists, is making every effort to support her recovery. She is currently able to receive treatment from the doctors,” Khaleda Zia’s personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain told reporters on Wednesday night outside Evercare Hospital.
He added that although a decision had previously been taken to move her abroad for more advanced treatment, this was not possible due to technical complications and her current health status.
“Members of the medical board are hopeful that it will be possible to ensure better treatment here. If necessary, she may be taken abroad at a later stage,” Dr Zahid said.
He further noted that Khaleda Zia remains in intensive care at Evercare Hospital, where she is under intensive observation by the medical team.
Doctors from both home and abroad are continuing to treat her, and her condition has shown some signs of improvement. In medical terms, he said, she remains fit to receive ongoing treatment.
Zahid, who is also a member of the BNP Standing Committee, mentioned that her daughters-in-law, Dr Zubaida Rahman and Sharmila Rahman, are constantly by her side, providing care.
Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital since 23 November.
According to her doctors, she is receiving round-the-clock care under the supervision of Professor Shahabuddin Talukder.
She was moved to the CCU on 27 November after her condition worsened.
