Lazz Pharma fined Tk2 lakh for selling counterfeit meds in Tangail
Bangla Press Desk: The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) under the Ministry of Commerce yesterday fined Lazz Pharma Tk2 lakh for marketing and selling counterfeit medicines in Tangail.
A DNCRP team, led by its Tangail Assistant Director Asadur Rahman Rumel, conducted a raid at the pharmacy’s outlet located at the Akur–Takurpara branch after a customer reported adverse reactions linked to a purchased drug.
Following a written complaint by the victim Md Shafiqul Islam, officials tested the medicine and confirmed it was fake.
The pharmacy was penalised under Section 41 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act.
Rumel warned that counterfeit medicines pose serious threats to public health and said similar enforcement drives will continue to safeguard consumers.
