Massive crowd at Bell’s Park as Tarique returns to Barishal after 20 years

Bangla Press Desk: A massive crowd of BNP leaders, activists and supporters thronged Barishal’s Bell’s Park and surrounding areas on Wednesday as party Chairman Tarique Rahman landed in the city after two decades.

Supporters of the party poured in from different districts of the Barishal division, including Bhola, Patuakhali and Pirojpur, and others started to gather at the rally area earlier in the day.

According to the gathering, some came to catch a glimpse of the party’s top leader, while others gathered to hear his promises and plans for the development of the region.

Faruk, a local coconut vendor eager to hear Tarique Rahman’s plans for the southern region, said, “No one really looks after poor people like us. We want our problems to be solved too. We hope something will be done for us as well.”

Rajib, a Jubo Dal activist who travelled from Bhola, said, “Our leader is visiting Barishal after 20 years. We want to build a new Bangladesh with the strength of youth.”

Saiful Islam Rony, a businessman from Patuakhali, said, “People will vote for those who work for the country and its people. I believe BNP is such a party, and Tarique Rahman is such a leader.”

“The announcement of family cards and farmer cards proves that he is thinking about people from all walks of life,” he added.

Nur Mohammad, who is 80 years old and came from Mehendiganj, said, “Everyone from our area has come. I couldn’t stay back either, so I came too.”

Miraj Akon and Mahida Rahman, who arrived with their two children, joined the gathering. Miraj Akon said, “Our entire family supports BNP. This time, BNP will form the government, Insha’Allah.”

However, Mahida Rahman expressed her disappointment at not seeing Tarique and said, “There was such a huge crowd that we couldn’t go towards the stage with our two small children.”

Mentionable, Tarique Rahman last visited Barishal in 2006. After nearly two decades, his return is being seen by local BNP leaders as politically significant for the party in the division.Source :daily Sun
