Md Sarwar Appointed Acting DMP Commissioner

Bangla Press Desk: Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Md Sarwar will serve as the DMP commissioner until further notice.

A gazette notification to this effect was issued by the Bangladesh Police headquarters on Thursday.

On Wednesday, DMP commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali sent his resignation letter to the Police Headquarters, citing “personal and family” reasons although his tenure was scheduled to continue until November this year.

Sazzat, an officer of the 1984 batch of the BCS Police cadre, had been dismissed from service in November 2016 while serving as additional inspector general of police at the Police Headquarters during the tenure of the previous Awami League government.

On 20 November 2024, the interim government appointed him as the DMP chief on a two-year contract.Source: daily Sun
