Measles Outbreak: 77 Children Admitted to Mymensingh Medical Facility
Bangla Press Desk: Mymensingh Medical College Hospital is witnessing a steady rise in measles cases, with 77 children undergoing treatment as fresh admissions continue to place pressure on already strained paediatric wards.
Assistant Director (Administration) Dr Muhammad Main Uddin Khan said on Saturday morning that 27 more children had been admitted over the past 24 hours, bdnews24.com reports.
He confirmed that all 77 hospitalised children have been diagnosed with measles.
Since Mar 17, the hospital has treated 371 children for the disease, with 284 discharged after recovery and 10 deaths reported.
MMCH Associate Prof Golam Mawla said children are continuing to arrive with measles symptoms on a regular basis, warning that the situation could turn more serious without greater public awareness.
He added that treatment services are being maintained at full capacity despite a shortage of staff.
