Mirpur community centre fire contained
7 firefighting units brought the situation under control after two-hour of efforts
Bangla Press Desk: Firefighters brought under control a major fire incident at a community centre building in Mirpur past midnight on Saturday after two hours of efforts.
Seven firefighting units worked to successfully contain the incident around 12:05am, said the fire service. The cause and impact remains unknown for now.
Earlier, the blaze originated on the sixth floor of Bibaho Bari Community Centre on Kalshi Road in Mirpur-12, causing panic among residents in the area.
The fire erupted around 10:12pm, and firefighters reached the spot 15 minutes later, said Talha Bin Jashim, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.
The sixth floor of the building reportedly hosts a garment factory.
Flames quickly spread through parts of the building, prompting emergency calls from locals.
The community centre is located next to Desh Polytechnic College.
No casualties were immediately reported, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. This article was originally published on the Daily Sun.
