NBR to take strict measures against tax evaders: Abdur Rahman
Bangla Press Desk: National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan has said that strict action will be taken against tax evaders.
He said, “Those who evade taxes are deceiving the public. NBR will take strict measures against them. Wherever accurate documents related to tax evasion are found, NBR is taking action there.
Regarding the current state of tax evasion, I hope these issues will be resolved.”
The NBR Chairman also said, “Gradually, transparency is increasing within NBR, and transparency will come to the people as well. No tax evader will be able to get away. We are moving away from the old British system in all areas and progressing towards automation. I am considering whether a separate digital automated register can be created for professionals.”
Md. Abdur Rahman added, “Now, based on the category-wise information and documents we receive, we are identifying the concerned individuals. We have even instructed each circle in every tax zone to carry out separate intelligence activities, and letters have been sent. Reports about this have also appeared in newspapers. This is an open document, nothing is secret.”
Announcing that NBR has started its own intelligence operations, the Chairman said, “Our two intelligence units (Central Intelligence Cell – CIC and Income Tax Intelligence) and each zone in every tax region have begun their own intelligence activities. If everyone works properly, Insha’Allah, we will achieve good results.”
