NCP plans to field candidates in all 300 constituencies; Nahid to contest from Dhaka
Bangla Press Desk: National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced its plan to field candidates in all 300 parliamentary constituencies in the upcoming national election.
The party’s Convener, Nahid Islam, confirmed the decision and declared that he himself would contest from Dhaka.
Speaking at a media briefing held on Sunday afternoon at the NCP’s central office in the capital’s Banglamotor, Nahid said, “We are preparing to contest in all 300 constituencies; I will run from Dhaka.”
He added that the list of candidates could be announced within this month.
“There are attempts by various quarters to sabotage the election. Other political parties are giving the Awami League the opportunity to exploit the situation,” Nahid alleged.
Criticising resistance to reform, the NCP leader warned that political forces opposing change would eventually “disappear from politics.”
Addressing questions about regional politics, Nahid said that Bangladesh–India relations would remain strained “as long as India does not change its stance regarding the people’s uprising in Bangladesh.”
Referring to the July Charter, Nahid said, “The day that charter was signed marked the beginning of national disunity. By signing it without any scrutiny, they deceived the nation. However, there is still an opportunity to restore unity.”
