Night guard killed as rice-laden truck crashes into freight train in Ctg
Bangla Press Desk: A night guard was killed as a truck loaded with rice collided with a freight train in the Sagarika area of Chattogram, leaving the truck badly damaged and causing the train to derail. As a result, freight train operations have been suspended in the area.
The deceased was identified as Samsul Haque, 60, hailed from Kishoreganj, had been working there as a night guard.
The accident occurred on Tuesday morning near the Sagarika Stadium rail crossing in the city.
According to a railway official, the train had departed from Chattogram Port bound for Dhaka. When it reached the Sagarika area, a truck ignored the signal and hit the locomotive of the train at high speed, causing the engine to overturn.
Chattogram Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said, “A collision occurred between a truck and a freight train, resulting in the suspension of freight train movement. The rail line is used only for cargo and container transport, so passenger train services in Chattogram are not affected. The recovery operation for the train is currently underway.”
