Bangla Press Desk: An individual was killed as a launch struck another vessel at the Sadarghat terminal in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.Another individual was injured and two people remained missing in the incident that occurred near Pontoon-14 around 5pm.
Witnesses said that while passengers were being boarded onto the launch “Asha Jawa-5” from a trawler, it was hit from behind by another launch named “MV Zakir Samrat-3”.
Shortly after the incident, the “MV Zakir Samrat-3” left the terminal.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Shah Md Foysal Ahmed confirmed the news of the death.
He said the injured person was undergoing treatment at a hospital, while two other persons still remained missing.
Hundreds of homebound passengers thronged the Sadarghat terminal on Wednesday, the last working day before Eid-ul-Fitr, to travel to their destinations and celebrate the festival with their near and dear ones.
