One lakh troops, 1.5 lakh police to be deployed during election: EC Secretary
Bangla Press Desk: Senior Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed has said that there is a proper environment in the country to hold the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
He announced that between 90,000 to 100,000 members of the armed forces will be deployed to maintain security during the election, along with 150,000 police personnel. In addition, around 550,000 Ansar members will be on duty across the country on polling day.
The EC secretary disclosed the information on Monday (October 20) afternoon after a meeting at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, Dhaka, with representatives from various law enforcement agencies. The meeting focused on ensuring a free, fair, and participatory election.
Regarding the recovery of looted weapons, Akhtar Ahmed said that 85% of the stolen arms have been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to retrieve the remaining ones.
