Parliament’s condolence motion for war criminals condemned by Basad (Marxist)
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASAD–Marxist) has strongly condemned and protested the adoption of a condolence motion in the first session of the 13th National Parliament in the names of recognised war criminals.
Masud Rana, coordinator of the party’s central executive forum, described the incident as “disgraceful.”In a statement sent to the media on Friday, he said that the condolence motion presented in the first session of the 13th National Parliament included the names of war criminals who had been identified as collaborators in the 1971 genocide, and that the Speaker approved it.
According to him, this act is a betrayal of the memory of the millions who were martyred in the Great Liberation War.The statement further said that before the election, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) had sought votes by portraying itself as a pro-Liberation War force. However, in the first session of Parliament, the party’s chief whip proposed adding the names of anti-Liberation figures and war criminals to the condolence motion, thereby breaking the promise made to its voters.
Condemning the incident strongly, Basad (Marxist) demanded that such a decision be withdrawn immediately.
The statement was sent by Seema Dutta, a member of the party’s central executive forum.Source: daily Sun
