PM Says Family Card Will Stimulate Economy Without Fueling Inflation
Bangla Press Desk: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that four crore families will be gradually brought under the family card scheme over the next four years, assuring that the programme will not trigger inflation but will strengthen and energise the local economy.
He made the remarks on Wednesday during the question-and-answer session in the National Parliament while responding to a query from NCP Member Secretary and MP Akhtar Hossain.
The Prime Minister said, “In the initial phase, 37,814 women-headed families have received allowances under the scheme. Over the first three months of the current fiscal year, a further 30,000 families will be brought under the programme.”
He added, “This programme will prevent funds from being siphoned abroad, and will open paths for families to become self-reliant. Employment opportunities will also increase through various initiatives.”
Highlighting support for farmers, Tarique Rahman noted that there are around 2.75 lakh farmers, and all farmers will gradually receive 'Farmer Cards' over the coming years.
He clarified that there is no plan to issue worker cards but assured that funds allocated to labour federations will be monitored to ensure proper use for worker welfare.
At the start of his statement, the Prime Minister thanked the voters of his parliamentary constituency, Dhaka-17, and added, “I will represent even those who did not vote for me in Parliament.”
