PM Tarique unveils commemorative stamp on Independence Day
Bangla Press Desk: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday unveiled a commemorative postage stamp marking Independence and National Day.
The Premier unveiled the stamp of Taka 10, along with an opening day cover of Taka 10 and a data card of Taka 5, at a ceremony at his Cabinet Division office at Bangladesh Secretariat here at 9:30am, according to Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon. A special canceller was used on the occasion.
He said the Prime Minister arrived at the Secretariat at 9:02am and completed several official engagements before unveiling the stamp.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam Swapan, Posts Secretary Abdun Naser Khan, and Director General of the Department of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam were present at the ceremony.The Prime Minister is also scheduled to chair a Cabinet meeting at 4:00pm later in the day.
Rumon noted that Cabinet meetings are usually held on Thursdays; however, this week’s meeting has been brought forward to Wednesday as Thursday coincides with Independence and National Day.
