Police arrest 54 in Gazipur slum crackdown
Bangla Press Desk: Law enforcement agencies on Sunday night arrested 54 people conducting a special operation in Mazar slum of Tongi in Gazipur.
The operation, launched around 11:00 pm on Sunday, was conducted jointly by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the Detective Branch (DB) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, and it continued until 2:00 am.Yaba pills, fuel papers, matchbox and other intoxicating paraphernalia, a machete, two knives and multiple voter ID card were seized.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Israil Howlader said the special operations would continue to tackle drug abuse and criminal activities in the area.
He said such operations would be intensified in the future to maintain law and order and ensure community safety.Source: daily Sun
