Preparations completed for Eid-ul-Azha’s main congregation at National Eidgah
  Bangla Press Desk: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has completed all necessary preparations for the smooth organization of the main Eid-ul-Azha congregation at the National Eidgah ground. DSCC Administrator Md. Shahjahan Mia said at a press conference held on the Eidgah premises on Thursday. The administrator stated, “The main Eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah at 7:30 AM on Eid day. However, in case of adverse weather, the congregation will be relocated to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8:00 AM.” Adequate safety and service measures have been arranged for the attending worshippers. These include:
  • Space to accommodate approximately 35,000 worshippers
  • A VIP block with arrangements for 250 individuals
  • Deployment of police, RAB, and other law enforcement agencies for tight security
  • Facilities for ablution, sanitation, and safe drinking water
  • Availability of medical teams and ambulances
  • Separate entry and exit gates
  • A dedicated prayer zone and entrance for female worshippers
He also noted that 8 temporary cattle markets have been set up to facilitate the buying and selling of sacrificial animals. Each market will have:
  • Sanitation workers
  • Police presence
  • ATM booths
  • On-site veterinarians and medical teams for animal health services
A cleanup plan has been initiated to ensure immediate post-market cleanliness. Shahjahan added that DSCC has deployed nearly 10,000 sanitation workers, 207 dump trucks, 200 mini trucks, and various other vehicles and machinery with the goal of removing all sacrificial waste within 12 hours. They are prepared to handle up to 30,000 metric tons of waste. In the 75 wards under Dhaka South, DSCC has already distributed:
  • 140,000 biodegradable bags
  • 40 tons of bleaching powder
  • 222 gallons of Savlon (antiseptic solution)
To ensure smooth execution of Eid congregations, cattle markets, and waste management, DSCC has canceled Eid holidays for all relevant officials and employees. A control room has been established at Nagar Bhaban’s emergency operations center for monitoring the situation during Eid. Residents have been urged to perform sacrifices in designated areas and to dispose of waste properly. Concluding his address, the Administrator extended Eid greetings to the citizens and said, “Please participate in the Eid prayers wholeheartedly.
