Primary school teachers to boycott students’ final exams on Tuesday
Bangla Press Desk: The teachers of government primary schools would continue their work abstention movement on Tuesday, halting the students’ final exams for the second consecutive day.
Abul Kashem Mohammad Shamsuddin, convener of the Primary Teachers’ Demand Realisation Council, announced the continuation of strike in a statement on Monday night.
Teachers from all over the country spontaneously joined the boycotts on Monday for the third day as the government took no visible step to realise their three-point demand, he added.
The protesting teachers will not allow to go in vain the bloods of “martyred colleague Fatema Akter and over two hundred wounded teachers” who faced police action while demonstrating to press home their demands, the statement read.
The teachers demanded an upgrade to the 10th grade from the current 13th grade, but accepted the 11th grade for the time being following government assurance. However, so far, there is no visible progress in implementing even the 11th grade, he noted.
