Red and Green Exercise Books Used to Record Court Orders: Inu
Bangla Press Desk: Former Information Minister of the ousted Awami League government, Hasanul Haque Inu, told a court that he has been keeping two exercise books in prison — one red and one green — to record details of the cases against him, including which court issued which order.
Inu made the remarks on Monday when he was produced before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter for a hearing on a prayer to show him arrested in a case filed with Bangshal Police Station.
Confirming the matter, State Prosecutor Harun Or Rashid said Inu had "threatened" the court by making such remarks, which could amount to contempt of court.
"He said he has been keeping records of which court issued which orders and what submissions lawyers made before the court," the prosecutor said, adding that the court showed him arrested in the case and would later pass an order regarding the alleged contempt of court.
Earlier in the day, former ministers Hasanul Haque Inu and Rashed Khan Menon were produced before the court for the hearing. During the proceedings, State Prosecutor Harun Or Rashid argued in favour of the police application. Later, after obtaining the court's permission to speak, Inu made the remarks.
Inu also expressed anger at being made to wait in the court's prison cell before the hearing. "The judiciary is operating as a branch of the Home Ministry," Inu claimed, adding that he was keeping notes of everything. After the hearing, the court ordered that both men be arrested in the case. However, it said it would decide later on the issue of Inu's alleged contemptuous remarks.
According to the case statement, on 5 August 2024, the complainant, Md Mokhlesin, was shot while participating in a procession on Nazimuddin Road at the Chankharpul intersection.
He was later taken to Mitford Hospital in a bleeding condition by local residents. In connection with the incident, Mokhlesin filed an attempted murder case as the complainant on 1 January last year.
