Sarjis leads long march in Panchagarh against corruption and extortion
Bangla Press Desk: National Citizens’ Party (NCP) northern regional organiser Sarjis Alam has launched a long march across Panchagarh district to protest against extortion, illegal occupation, syndicate activities and widespread corruption.
The long march began on Saturday afternoon from a sugarmill field in the district town.
According to the organisers, around 1,000 motorcycles joined the procession, with leaders and activists from NCP and its youth wing, Jatiyo Juboshokti, participating.
Throughout the march, the organisers planned three roadside rallies aimed at raising public awareness about social crimes and mobilising citizens to speak out against such practices.
The day-long programme will conclude with a short rally at Sher-e-Bangla Park in Panchagarh town at 9pm. Sarjis Alam said the initiative was intended to send a strong message to those involved in extortion, illegal occupation, syndicate operations and corruption.
“This march is to make it clear that these criminal practices will not be tolerated. People must unite to resist them,” Sarjis told reporters during the procession.
