Second Janaza prayer for Shakib Ali
Staff Reporter: The second Janaza prayer for Bangladeshi young engineer Shakib Ali was held on Friday in Atlanta, Georgia. After Jummah prayers, a large crowd of Bangladeshi expatriates gathered at Bethlehem Mosque in Georgia to attend the funeral.
Following the Janaza, he was laid to rest at a cemetery affiliated with the same mosque, according to local Bangladeshi community leaders.
Expatriates traveled from distant areas to take part in the funeral of the late engineer. Shakib’s body was flown from California to Atlanta on Thursday.
Thousands attended the Janaza in Atlanta, including prominent members of the Bangladeshi community and people from various professions. His untimely death has cast a deep shadow of grief among expatriates across Georgia and the United States.
Earlier, the first Janaza prayer and doa mahfil were held Wednesday evening at an Islamic Center in Los Angeles, attended by community leaders and members from different walks of life.
Cause of Death Confirmed
Many had questions about how such a young individual passed away. It has now been confirmed that Shakib died due to cardiac arrest. A reliable source said that doctors mentioned a heart attack in the death certificate.
Shakib was born and raised in Georgia. His father, Dr. Muhammad Ali Manik, is a well-known pediatrician and political figure in the Bangladeshi community, and his mother, Shakira Ali Bacchi, is a community organizer. Shakib studied at the prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology.

He moved to Marina del Rey, California, just six months ago for work and was employed as a software engineer at Amazon Music. He lived alone in his apartment.
His parents were in regular contact with him almost every day. However, after being unable to reach him for three to four days, they became concerned. On Monday morning, they went to his apartment in Marina del Rey, where they found his body and notified the police. Authorities recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy.
Rescue personnel and medical professionals believe that Shakib may have died of a heart attack approximately four to five days before his body was discovered.
